The Northwinds Symphonic Band was organized in 1984 as a performance outlet for music educators in the north Georgia area. The roster includes band directors, both active and retired, music teachers, college students, professional musicians and several players who pursue an occupation outside the field of music. The band has grown to over one hundred members, performing concerts throughout the year with notable guest conductors and soloists. They are well known for their patriotic concerts and tributes to John Philip Sousa. For us they will perform a pops concert with some patriotic tunes. www.northwindsband.com

Mithril is fast becoming one of the most sought after Celtic music groups on the concert series scene. The band’s unique progressive style has its roots in traditional Celtic music but moves far beyond that, weaving such diverse influences as American folk, classical, and Middle Eastern melodies into their full tapestry of sound. The four musicians perform their all-instrumental shows on a wide array of traditional instruments, including Irish flute, whistle, fife, Celtic harp, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin, guitar, bodhran, and harmonium, playing with the precision of their classical training and the enthusiasm that springs from their love of the music. Add to that some traditional Irish dancers, and this performance is a must-see. www.mithril.us
