Robert Ray and Company
The Johnny Mercer Show

Robert Ray and Company

Robert Ray is no stranger to Rabun County Music Festival audiences. He appears again this year with Marsha Dupree and Shawn Megordon plus a five-piece orchestra. Their program includes the music of Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael and Henry Mancini with lyrics by Georgia's own Johnny Mercer. Mercer wrote the lyrics to more than 1,700 songs, and the Georgia native stands among the greatest American songwriters like the Gershwins and Irving Berlin, as well as Cole Porter. From the mid-1930s through the mid-1950s, many of the songs Mercer wrote were among the most popular hits of the time including “Skylark,” “Moon River,” “Jeepers Creepers,” and “I Wanna Be Around.” You will not want to miss the costumes, choreography and three of the country's top Cabaret Artists as they celebrate Mercer's 18 Academy Award nominated songs along with many of his other favorites.
